Rusty back to back Beasley

Rusty Hickman won his 2nd Col Beasley Classic Saturday night at RD 3 of the Mainline DynoLog Dynamometers All Star Series. Hickman was dominant from green to checker in the thrilling nonstop 30 lap final. While Hickman was in control of the lead it was not the same for P2 to P6 with both Caruso’s, Hunter & Moule swapping places continually for final placings.

In the end SA10 Steven Caruso beat brother Mark home in 2nd, SA33 Mark Caruso crossed the line in 3rd, V73 Charles Hunter 4th and D26 Todd Moule rounding out the top 5. Hot on the tail tanks of the top 5 was VA9 Brad Warren, hard charger V60 Jordyn Charge, Supercar legend V6 Cam Waters, SA98 past Aussie Champ Chad Ely, and SA3 young Ben Morris. These guys battled hard and fast between each other putting on a show for the huge crowd. With the top 12 cars all on the same lap it was a credit to all drivers for the speed and respectful driving displayed.

An elated Hickman said “That 40 car is always a rocket ship and that’s all on Dad. I was considering starting out of 2 but thought I’d stick to my guns and it was a last minute decision to start on pole. I just ran the top and it was only till lap 5 or 6 that I looked down and saw that it was getting black and thought I better drop to the bottom I don’t want to go 25 laps leading it then get passed. It was a hard one leading it from green but it was good fun. I was rolling around at the start and having a bit of a chat to Col and started getting a bit emotional especially when I got the checker. This one is for you Col & Karen.”

The ever popular Farmer Phil Lock kicked the night off well timing in 3rd quick and picking up his heat win. Finishing 14th in the A overall the team should be pleased with their results. V43 Corey Sandow’s night was one of highs and lows, timing 6th quick overall and leading his heat easily before tangling with a lap car going to rear for a second push; at the restart Sandow was squeezed and climbed the catch fence ending his heat battle.

Team Sandow worked hard rebuild the car for his next heat and in doing so winning the Maxie’s Keep on Fighting Award.
