Last weekend at Heartland Raceway, Moama, NSW, the Solomon brothers Chris and Paul made history when they each won a Sprintcar feature on the same night at the same track. Was it world-wide history? Maybe, maybe not.
But it is historic as it was the first time these two have done this so if nothing else it was a piece of family history.
The Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series was the headline act with round 8 of the current series for 410ci Sprintcars while the new C & H Trucking Pro-Sprint series shared almost equal billing for 360ci/LS/CT525 crate motor Sprint Cars.
Using second hand tyres and an undersized engine that is almost as old as the driver, Chris Solomon drove superbly through traffic on the big flowing track to pass race leader Jordy Rae and go on and take his first Eureka and 410ci feature win from Rae and Jordyn Charge. Solomon set the races fastest lap mid way through the 30 lap race.
Elder brother Paul, who was a late entry, then went out and led every lap of the Pro-Sprint feature not relenting until the chequered flag had flown setting his fastest lap, and the fastest lap of the race on the penultimate circulation with Charles Hunter and Jordy Rae completing the podium. Congratulations boys on a unique, if not historic result, a result that made family patriarch Ray very happy. Photos courtesy of Shayne T Wright,
