Jake Smith has been knocking on the door of his first Sprintcar feature win for the season, coming oh so close a week ago at the National Pro-Sprint Title, and finally the breakthrough with a green to chequered win at Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway on Sunday night 21st April, ironically as the season draws to an end.Local hero Matthew Symons in the Lyle Jeffs VA70 who won here recently, challenged Smith the whole way but was just shy of mounting a serious challenge. Michael Tancredi, who after a second heat wreck told Highline Magazine that the car was “effed”, grabbed third place after a big effort by the crew to change “everything” and some hard work passing cars by the driver.The Victorian Sprintcar season is almost over with the last show scheduled for Redline Raceway on May 11th where the action will easily be hotter than the weather.
