BARROW BRILLIANT AT REDLINE RACEWAY, WALSH AND LOCK WINNERS ALSO

Redline Raceway on Mount Buninyong hosted a huge crowd on Saturday night for the latest round of the both the EZ Print Victorian Modified Promotional Association state series and Super Rod Association Western Cup Series along with supporting racing from the Sports Sedans and driving home with winners spoils were Dylan Barrow, Shaun Walsh and Jamie Lock, whilst the huge crowd witnessed some wonderful Modified Sedan competition.

Two rounds of heats in the Modified Sedans were shared between six different winners once again showcasing just how strong the class is in Victoria. Carter Metcalfe claimed the first win of the evening before Queenslander Joel Berkley scored the next. Victorian champion Brad Wicks was next up to win before Jamie Lock, Brody Chrystie and South Australian Brett Williams rounded out all the winners in qualifying.

Following the qualifying Dylan Barrow and last seasons series champion Lachlan Fitzpatrick went on to win the Dash races that put them into the pole shootout. Then Barrow went racing against and defeating Fitzpatrick, Brad Wicks, Darren Cockerill, Jamie Lock, Brody Chrystie, and Joel Berkley to take control of the front row start.

The Modified Sedan racing was terrific right through the night with four of the heat races and one of the dashes decided by less than a second at the finish then finished off with a feature race that seen first and second separated by .302.  The feature race was an absolute cracking race with the fans not moving an inch until it was all over.

In amongst the mix was Redline’s very own member Darren Cockerill, deep amongst the top five. When it was all said and done, and despite being challenged throughout the race, Barrow went on to take the victory from Tasmanian star Jakobe Jetson, Victorian champion Brad Wicks, Cockerill and Tristan McGraw.

The popular Super Rods were also in action for the second round of the Western Cup Series. Four heat race qualifiers were shared between Michael Coad, Shaun Walsh, Corey Deglaitis and Jacob Pitcher. Jamie May and Walsh then began at the front of the field with Walsh winning the drag race into turn one and out through turn two down the backstraight, whilst May dropped back a little.

Coad made the most of the gap opening up and set about the chase. Walsh hit his marks lap after lap and whilst Jacob Pitcher made some moves in the field. Walsh continued on his way and led the race through to the end with Coad in second, then May, Stan Marco Jnr and Pitcher rounding out the top five.

Sports Sedan drivers were having their last hit out before the state title at Redline in March. Rhys Meakins won all three of his heat races whist Josh Service twice, Bailey Kakoschke, Jamie Lock twice, and Tyler Brown also won heat races.

Lock the defending Victorian champion this season then went on to put his challengers on notice by securing the last event for the class at Redline prior to the state title and was pushed all the way by Tyler Brown who had an outstanding night. Service a former Victorian champion showed he will once again be in the mix with a third spot on the podium followed by Meakins and Bailey Kakoschke.

Redline Raceway’s next event is with the Sports Sedan Victorian title, Compact Speedcars, AMCA Nationals and Standard Saloons.
