Peachey Cleans up round 1 of the Barry Reidy Memorial.

In what was an exciting last 3 laps of the feature for round 1 of the Barry Reidy Memorial, the V51j of Neale Peachey came away with the race win Honors after fighting his way back through the field after a first lap spin sent him to the rear for the re-start.

None of that mattered though as the beautifully presented Panther Chassis made quick work of the field as he stormed his way back up to 3rd place in only a few laps.

Meanwhile at the front of the pack, the V97 of Stewart Grant-Campbell looked to have the race under control as he lead from the drop of the green, leading 15 laps of the 17 lap distance only to get caught with lapped traffic coming into play and allowing Peachey to get by, only to then be sent to the rear after contact between the two through turn 3 and 4, the V97 deemed the cause and a cruel end to what had been a faultless run to that point.

2nd home was Frank Thierry having started deep in the pack and played the patient game with the V7 Panther coming on in the late stages of the race to pass his way onto the podium, consolidating for what started as a night to forget for the old dog with engine woes on the dummy grid prior to heat 1 resulting in a DNS, then getting caught out by the tricky track conditions in heat 2 making heavy contact with the turn 4 fence and ending his run with a DNF.

3rd place in the feature went to the V43 of Nathan Dunn in his first race meeting out for the year, proving that keeping your nose out of trouble pays off with teammate Travis Wilkins in the V33 home in 4th place and 5th place Paul Howard.

John Churchyett took out the first 253 home in his first race meeting for some time bringing the V63 Redline home in 7thplace respectfully.

It’s been several years since AMCA Nationals graced the surface of the Alexandra Speedway, and with that came unfamiliar territory for those in attendance with the tricky track conditions catching more than a few drivers out of their comfort zones through-out the night.

Heat winners were Justin Richardson in the V99 Cougar taking out the first heat, with Neale Peachey grabbing the second heat and Stewart Grant-Campbell getting the win in the 3rd heat of the night.
