On a huge Saturday night (April 12th) at Redline Raceway, Bacchus Marsh Sprintcar star James Oliver stormed to victory in his first ever Sprintcar win the ‘King’s Marine Scrap Metals Sprintcar Stampede’, and Redline Speedway’s own member driver Scott Secombe won his first ever final after ten years of trying in Street Stocks, a popular victory indeed.
Flynn Annett won Top Star Junior Sedans and Hudson Moorfoot won the New Star Juniors, whilst Scott Whittle stormed from the rear of the field to win the Standard Saloon final.
In racing for the “Fueled Technologies’ SRA 360-LS Sprintcars, Oliver won the first of four qualifying races leading from start to finish heading Sam Wren from Ballarat whilst another local racer James Wren was fourth. Matthew Symons won the second qualifier, Michael Tancredi the third, and Dennis Jones the fourth and final qualifier. Symons led the first fourteen laps of the feature event before Oliver assumed control of the race and held his nerve through a string of caution period stoppages before beating Brett Milburn, Charles Hunter from Bacchus Marsh, Koby Noonan and Mitchell Smith.
Ballarat local and Redline member Sam Wren was crashed out of the race after qualifying third for the final, this occurred on the first attempt to start the final without a lap being completed, whilst James Wren finished in seventh, his best result of the season.
In Junior Sedan Promotional Association series racing Jake Bradley, Brad Marshall and James Peacock shared the wins in the Top Star qualifying. Marshall then led twelve of fifteen laps in the final before Flynn Annett passed him and held Marshall at bay winning by half a second with Marshall, Peacock, Tristan Jarred and Blake Beach rounding out the top five.
Hudson Moorfoot, Darcy Dannatt, and Moorfoot a second time claimed wins in the qualifying for Junior New Star Sedans before a terrific three-way tussle between Moorfoot, Dannatt and Noah Basten entertained everybody in the final. Moorfoot led every lap and won by just .315 of a second from Basten, Dannatt, and Oscar Conder and Chase Davey both from Ballarat.

Scott Whittle a state Standard Saloon racing legend then won all three qualifiers in his class before electing to start from the rear of the field to give the crowd some extra entertainment. It took only until lap three for Whittle to be in second place. Six lap’s later after a valiant effort from local racer Austin Chivers to hold off Whittle, he hit the front with Austin Chivers chasing him all the way to the finish of the race. In third place was Lachie Chivers followed by Sean Oakes-Rogers and Sammii Paterson.
Shaun Henry began the Street Stock racing with a heat race win in the first of three qualifiers before he was relegated to the rear of the field in heat race number two after a scrap between Henry and Josh Davey had an impact in Ashley Fox being sent skyward, rolling five times before coming to a halt without a roof on his race car. Fox was transported to hospital soon after and is nursing some wounds. Scott Secombe another Ballarat racer was out in front at the time and was declared the race winner and then went on to win again in the third heat race.

Bhoe Paterson led lap one of the Street Stock final before Secombe led the second lap and Paterson then led from lap three until lap nine before his car suffered a malfunction. Secombe then led until the end to defeat Henry, Jamie Crutchley, Davey, and Brock Smith.
Redline Raceway returns on May 3rd with the Ern Overall Memorial for the Modified Sedans, a Super Sedan series round, Street Stock Jackpot feature and Standard Saloons.
