DIVISION 2 HOT ROD COMPETITORS SET FOR STATE TITLE AT BAIRNSDALE THIS WEEKEND

Race drivers will head into Bairnsdale Speedway once again this weekend for the last scheduled show of the current season. Headlining the meeting will be the Victorian title for Division 2 Hot Rods, whilst the Junior Standard Saloons will compete in their final round of the ‘Skidz’ Next Gen Showdown Series and competitors in the Open Standard Saloon class will compete in the ‘Bairnsdale Bearings Stampede’.

Supporting action will come from Junior 1200 Sedans, Ladies Standard Saloon racers and the Limited Sportsman classes.

Current Victorian champion Jordan Haley is determined to go back-to-back this weekend as he sets out to defend the title, he currently lays claim to whilst a host of Bairnsdale member racers are amongst those keen to claim the number one roof plate for themselves. Fraser and Ben Crittenden and Trent and Troy Wilson all represent Bairnsdale and are hoping to be the driver with the win at the end of Saturday night. Melissa Tatterson the current number three ranked driver and Matt Hutchison both representing the Rosedale club are strong competitors as is Jimmy Low from the Moe club. Daniel Angus will also represent Nyora a regular amongst title podiums and Ray Saggars a new competitor to the class.

Victorian Junior Standard Saloon champion Bryce Leek returns to the scene of his title victory in the final round of the ‘Skidz Driving School’ supported Next Gen Showdown series final round. Leek will have to be quick to hold back the likes of Tannah Lee the last start winner at Bairnsdale, Tyler McDermott, Cooper Joynson, and Tom Braz who all finished their last race meeting in the top five at Bairnsdale. Kaine Smith is looking to secure a victory before the season concludes and Ella Sheedy, Jack Stewart and Hunter Carey are all back for another crack at victory also.

With the Victorian title for Standard Saloons behind them, a great field has nominated for the Bairnsdale Bearings Stampede. Shane Stewart, Leigh Gooding, Chris Miles, Matt Leek Jack Yeomans, Beau Stuchbery, Jack Braz, Ashley Cormack, Josh Thomas, Andrew Miles, Jacob Vuillermin and Gus Argoon are all amongst the quick cars competing up and down through Gippsland with Bairnsdale’s very own Stuchbery the winner at our last race meeting keen to do so again, this time in such tough competition.

Andrew Cormack, Clinton Geer, Kevin Hays, Jamie Curtis, Arron Cormack, Noah Greaves, Rick Van Duren, Josh Cormack, and Russell Stuchbery all Bairnsdale members are looking forward to securing all important club member points also this weekend.

Tahlia Campbell fresh off a podium result recently in the Ladies Standard Saloon title leads nominations into battle this weekend in that classes competition. Campbell will do battle with Bree Walker who has been outstanding this season at Bairnsdale, Bronwyn Miles, and Elise Halliday, along with Bairnsdale members Simone Taylor, Joanne Richardson, Samantha Cormack, and Breanna Lee. Walker is the most likely to challenge Campbell, however it is the last event of the season at Bairnsdale and this race meeting often sees a result from out of nowhere occur.

Competitors in the Junior 1200 Sedan category will also join the racing after last weeks Nyora event was cancelled and Bairnsdale Speedway Association found a way to accommodate them in the closing event of their season. Riley Taylor, Chase Doherty, Ella Sheedy and Dayne Murdoch have proven results in recent seasons, Murdoch making great improvements this year and the other three consistently chasing podium placings. Cruz, Ryder and Eliza Taylor are all developing their skills and becoming more confident as each meeting passes.

Limited Sportsman will have a squirt also with Darren Adams and Daniel Hurley the best known of the entrants. David Knight and Jayden White will also join them for a skid to end the local season.

Spectator Entry begins from 10am and please remember the consumption of Alcohol is prohibited at the venue. Racing will kick off at 3:30pm. Enquiries on the day of racing only, can be made to 0497 297 635.
