Moama’s Heartland Raceway will roar into action for the first time this season as they host round one of the 2023/24 VMPA Tritech Lubricants Series.
The former national title venue for Modified Sedans is always red hot when the green flag drops. Heartland Raceway will also host Junior Sedans and the poignant 410 SRA Sprintcar series on the same card priming for a blockbuster night of action.
With reigning series champion Dylan Barrow out of the state in competition, this opens up the playing field for round one as the sharks enter the water.
Nyora Raceway members are always a strong presence at every venue, with Jamie Paull, Cameron Dike, John Dike, Peter Angus and Scott Angus all making the trek to compete.
Ballarat’s Young Gun, Darcy Wilson is biting at the heels of a series round win with every appearance in the supremely presented B5. Wilson joins the immaculate machinery of Bella Rizzoli out of the Redline Raceway camp as well in round one. Wade Mccarthy, the long time supporter of the VMPA out of Mildura will of course be a feature of round one at Moama.
Bendigo will play its hand in the form of a ground up rebuild for Lachlan Fitzpatrick and the Maverick Motorsport team after a wild rollover late in season 2022/23. Graham West and the Iconic BGO56 Torana has years of experience getting around this place so keep eyes peeled on the all red LJ.
Alexandra Speedway is represented by Brody Chrystie who very well could have shaken up the 2022/23 season if it wasn’t for some engine gremlins plauging them of an eventual series win.
This may well be Brody’s vengeance year. Kasey Garlick is a well rounded steerer across multiple divisions and looks forward to joining the boys and girls of the VMPA again this year. Daniel Simpson polled strongly last season with a season standings podium finish, Simpson the former Victorian Champion may just be coming into his prime into 2023/24.
Tristan Mcgraw and his fresh look Corowa #38 are as ready as ever been for the first round. The quietly spoken Corowa man is set to rumble in the clay ring. The big Hulk and the Wangaratta 82 is back in action, the family Aerodrome Automotive team of Shane and Felicity love getting behind the wheel of their modified, with Shane at the helm this outing. Brad Warren is a man born without fear, Wazza knows exactly where the right pedal is and will be sure to find the bottom of it, come Saturday night. The final 2 cars in the field consist of the former National Champion,
VMPA series champion and multiple blue ribbon event winner Kye Walters who will steer the gorgeous new look Rachel Pratt #GV94 car.
And to round out the field in his rookie race meeting with the VMPA will be Sam Payne steering the family Owned all black Avalon 68 Commodore.
The 3rd generation racer and former national speedway kart champion will turn his hand to a much larger wheelbase this year and look forward to seeing his progress. Racing is scheduled for a start at 4:30 PM with such a large card on hand to get through during the night between Modified Sedans, Junior Sedans and Sprintcars.
Pit gates will open at 1pm for competitors with drivers briefing scheduled for 4pm.
